Yay for Monday

Thursday I ordered:
ATI Radeon™ HD 2600XT and 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) Memory Module Kit for XPS 400.
My current cards is a GeForce 7300 LE. And I have 2g memory installed.
Now let me try to make a table for my own amusement.

Geforce 7300 LE Radeon HD 2600XT
Memory Size 128MB 512MB
API Support DX9 Open GL2 DX10 Open GL2
Technology DDR II SDRAM 64-bit

GDDR3 SDRAM 128-bit

Memory Clock Speed 450MHz

Features None listed Avivo HD Technology, integrated HD Audio controller

Later on when I get time, I'll post  screenies of w0w with my graphics sets to full and minimum along with the FPS I get at at those settings. I know you two won't mind a bit. :)

Oh and Happy Birthday Rod!! I didn't forget yesterday.. I just never know what the dates are until I write a check.

Here's my performance information for today:

waiting

I'm sitting here waiting for the DHL guy to get here. Sometimes he's here around 12:30, other times it's after 5pm. I hope it's dinner today that he comes. Surely it will be. Won't it? I mean doesn't he know how important MY package is? My packages are so important that they should be brought to my house by helicopter. Then they should shimmy down a rope (ninja style) and put it right in my hands. I don't want that Swiss Family Robinson type of delivery where they fly over and just throw the shit on the ground. Maybe I should go finish cleaning the house. That should pass a little time.

radeon..

goddamn you.

Damn Computer Shit .. again

So things didn't work out so well with the Radeon. Every 5 minutes (usually less) the screen would go black and I'd see "display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered". I spent hours updating to the latest catalyst drivers then I spent hours downgrading to older drivers. SO. After careful consideration and hours of reading forums, I chose the eVGA e-GeForce 9600 GT SUPERCLOCKED 512MB DDR3 PCI-E 2.0.

I think this is the card that Rodney has and he says it's pretty good. It may not be the same card, but it's the one I ordered. The only thing I was worried about was my stock 375watt PSU. After reading the Dell forums until my eyes bled, I found that several people can run this card and higher cards by using the stock PSU. Apparently the 375watt can handle it because it pulls more from the wall and has one of those little thingies you can connect to your card directly to your power supply. A P-4 cable (6-pin connector). I also looked at the 8800GT and the.. well I looked at just about all of them. I wanted to keep my price UNDER 200 and I did. My next dealie to buy for my 'upgrading' will (maybe) be a X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional. I may decide to upgrade my something else instead.

I need a f00kin job so I can pay for this shit now. I feel like a bad person making my husband unknowingly buy me things while he is hard at work.

I know it's only like a 6 hour drive, maybe 8, from Houston to here. But still, I'm still amazed at how fast these guy work when compared to Walmart's Site2Store shipping which took my camera case 28 days (if I'm remembering right. It was a hella long time) to get here. Twenty eight fukin days. But even that's not too bad when you compare Site2Store to CSDShipping. (Casey Shane Dickerson Shipping) I ordered shit 12 years ago and I'm STILL waiting for that delivery!

Why am I already getting this dreaded feeling like everything is going to blow up in my face again? Why do I do these impulse buys then have to send back, reorder and crap like that. I mean, can I just get something to work on the first go?

    IT'S HERE

    Man this thing is HUGE.

    And the results are!

    Before: 3.1 After: 5.0

Before on full: 19fps After on full: 33fps
    beforenadafter

In Shatt  I was getting around 60-70fps with just a few things turned down.

I am still occasionally that sound stutter/snap/crackle/pop but I noticed the 2 times I had that problem I had paint.net running at the same time as w0w. Maybe that's the problem? Another thing is an occasional freeze after installing the ram yesterday. It's froze up both with and without a new card installed. I checked and changed a few things in BIOS so maybe that will cure it.

    I fucking knew it

    Dear WildBlue customer,

WildBlue has been made aware that your bandwidth usage over the past 30 days is approaching the Usage Threshold, as defined in WildBlue's Fair Access Policy (FAP).

To ensure that your service is not downgraded in accordance with our FAP (available here), you will want to decrease your usage.  To view your current usage statistics, please follow the steps outlined at this site.  While WildBlue does keep track of the total amount of traffic on an account, for privacy purposes we do not actively monitor the content of that traffic.

If, after discussing this matter with all users of your WildBlue service, the excessive usage cannot be accounted for, it may have been caused by the misuse of your system by an

outside user.  Unfortunately this would mean that the security of your system has been

compromised, and will need to be secured as soon as possible.  To remedy this issue you we recommend you follow these steps:

1: Ensure that you have applied all critical patches and service packs to your operating system (i.e. Windows).  These are available at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.  Microsoft Internet Explorer is required to access this page.

2: Ensure that your anti-virus software is up to date.  New virus definitions come out

frequently, so if you are uncertain if your program is up to date, you will want to ensure that it is.  Most can be configured to update on their own.  If you do not have anti-virus software, you will want to acquire some.  This should be available at most retail stores.

3: Have your system serviced by a professional.  In a large number of cases, there has been a breach in the security of the affected system.  This could possibly lead to more severe issues, or a recurrence of that which has been brought to our attention.

OK. What this is what I've done over the past 3-4 days to get this ABUSE warning:

    1) I reinstalled Windows which meant that I had to update security patches, drivers, etc.
    2) I had to update Warcraft. And that was OVER 1gig.

So, now I'm at 80%. In another 20% my speeds will be reduced to 128kbps downstream and 28 kbps upstream. I still have the Value pack that I started out with. I wasn't going to get the huge package when I was just test driving the satellite speeds.  Package details below. I remember the Pro-Pak being 69.oo back in the day when I first got this. I'm also only paying 49.95/mo for my value pack but I see they've gone up on the price for that too. Maybe I'll upgrade.. Maybe not. It's all according to what the money-maker says.

Starting tomorrow, my home phone will be disconnected. We'll be using our cells instead. So call one of those if you owe me money. I emailed the few people I know with the cell numbers and if you didn't get an email, it's because I forgot your address. Just email me if you need to know it. When I reinstalled everything I forgot to backup my address book. It was pretty much empty anyway. Also.. I called Wildblue and got my package updated to the Select Pak. Yay go me. I r0k in a soft-core type of way.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that noticed that my upload still sucks.

    I Luv New Shit

In the next couple of years, I have plans on buying a new car if I don't get to go to Disneyland. The Disney trip looks pretty bleak... I've got the cars narrowed down to 4 3. One of these for will be the winner:

Hummer H3   I thought about the H2 but I think that's a bit overkill in size for me. I'd be too tempted to run shit over if I was in one of those. but then maybe it's a good thing..

Chrysler 300  I've always liked the look of this car but... you know what .. never mind.

Dodge Magnum  Me + Magnum = happy IF it has good pickup/speed/hauling ass abilities.

Chevrolet Camaro  Camaro + anyone = happy. Would have to wait until 2010 for this though. Wonder if I can live that long.. anyway~ I'm sure the interior space is pretty tight and that makes it not too kid-friendly, but with a car like this, who needs a kid! oh wait..

Who am I fooling? Y'all know I'll end up getting something like an Astro.

    Hello

I am Alysia. and I am an impulse shopper. Sometimes I cannot help myself. Today, in the middle of nothing, I turn to Casey and say "I think I'll go get a couple of recliners." He just looked at me and said "Alright." It was already 5pm and Ivan Smith closes at 6pm. I call Mom, tell her to get her truck and be here in 15 minutes. and she was. So we get down there and I make it a point to sit in every recliner they had. Not just sit in them, but wallow around, recline, kick back and really try them out. The sales lady wasn't much help at all. All she could do was stand there looking me and give the occasional nod. Which is about how I do people too. Anyway. There were basically two sizes. Small and large. I like small. I want me feet to touch the ground. That's an odd feeling for me to sit in a chair and have my feet on the ground. And because of that, I ended up getting one of the biggest fucking recliners they had. It has a 48" back height, full 80" in reclined position and was built to support a person of up to 6'8" tall and 350 pounds in weight. Fucking HUGE. But they only had one and I'd have to order the other. So before I paid for the second chair, I asked her if there was going to be a sale anytime soon on those recliners. And yes, there will be a sale during the first week of June. So I'll be going back then to get another one and save 30 bucks. I may be an impulse buyer but I still like to save money.

    Can't Sleep

I started looking for numbers to put on my phone so I can look important. Since I don't know anyone, I was looking up random numbers to put in. I wandered over to Poison Control to get their number because you never know when some dumbass is going to take the wrong medicine. Oh wait.. I did that once. I took my dogs' medicine instead of my own. Boy did I feel like a dumbass. Back to my story.. I started reading the 2006 annual report that they have. I was reading under "Scenarios for therapeutic errors by age" and did you know that 'Exposure through breast milk' had 169 reported cases in '06? Yep. 89% was for children under 6 years old and ,if I had a drum I'd be beating on it now, 7.7% was by persons 19 years old and older! Then there was a 3% for the unknowns.
